Veritas Preparatory Charter School is seeking a high-performing Special Education Teacher.  This position is best suited for an individual with a deep understanding and a contagious passion for learning. Candidates must have the ability to inspire students as a positive adult role model while maintaining an orderly and safe classroom environment.  To teach at Veritas Prep candidates must be driven to perfect his/her craft through rigorous professional development, data analysis, and an eagerness to learn new instructional strategies.    

Specifically, the Special Education teacher is responsible for providing Special Education services and accommodations to our students including inclusion and small-group support to students.  This position will work as part of our student support team, which includes school social workers, Dean of Culture, support teachers, and fellow special education teahers.    

Job Expectations:

• Implement school-wide procedures to maintain a school culture of high academic and behavioral expectations
• Develop and track student progress toward IEP goals
• Develop accommodations for subject area curriculum and deliver rigorous, standards-based lessons and assessments
• Serve as liaison for caseload of approximately 10-15 students
• Collect and use data to inform planning of subject area curriculum and instruction
• Collaborate with grade level colleagues to ensure that every student shows dramatic student achievement gains
• Cultivate positive relationships with colleagues, students, parents and families

Qualifications:

• Unwavering belief that all students can achieve at high levels
• Strong commitment to do whatever it takes for all of our students to be college-ready
• Certification and experience and/or training in Special Education administration, knowledge of current Special Ed. laws
• A minimum of three years teaching experience with low-income students and a proven track record of producing dramatic student achievement gains is preferred
• Experience working in a structured school environment that promotes a positive culture of achievement is preferred
